The butterfly develops through a process called metamorphosis. The life cycle of a butterfly includes first the eggs, next the caterpillars (feeding stage), then the chrysalises (transformation) and finally adult butterflies emerge. We are checking our caterpillars every day. They are eating and growing bigger soon we will have a chrysalis to watch.

Last night dinner Cole was telling us that the caterpillar hadn't turned into a chrysalis yet! It took me a minute to figure out what he was trying to say but when I did we had a great conversation about it! What a wonderful thing it is to finally be able to have a real conversation with my little guy and he get an incredible sense of pride and excitement when he gets to teach me about the things he is learning in school!
